I.The analysis of the teaching contents

?? This lesson is about “what does he do”. The topic of this class is “career”. Such a topic is related to our daily life. So, it is helpful to raise the students’ learning interests.

IIThe analysis of the students

The students have Learned English for 3 years. They have a little ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They feel active and competitive in taking part in different kinds of activities. They are eager to learn something new and they would like to express their own opinions. They have great interests in English now.

Step 1.Warm-up

1.Greetings and sing a song ----My Family.

2. Brain storm. Look at the pictures and talk about different jobs.? T: What do they do?

(Design purpose: Lead the students to English speaking environment actively.)

Step2.Presentation and Practice

1. Look and say. Teacher gives a scene: Look, today is Career Day. Let’s learn more about careers.

(1)Present pictures of factory worker. T: What does she/he do? Then learn the word factory worker.

(2)Present pictures of postman. T: What does he/she do? Learn the word postman.

(3) Present pictures of businessman. T: What does he/she do? Learn the word businessman.

(4) Present pictures of police officer. T: What does he/she do? Learn the word police officer.

2. Present pictures of the text on P49. Read the text and answer: What does Oliver’s father do?

3. Practice the new words : Who has sharp eyes?

4. Play a game: Guessing game.

Show different pictures of careers and ask students What does he/she do?

5. Complete Listen, match and say and check the answers.

6.Pair work. Students ask and answer with these sentence structures:

A: What does your father/mother do?

B: Guess

A: Is he/she a..?

B: Yes, he/she is.

? No, he/she isn’t. He/She is a…

(Design purpose: By setting a real task to examine students. Make an assessment and encourage students to make their own dialogues.)
